On the topic of creative approaches to meat combinations, don't forget about Turducken (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turducken). Now it doesn't really sound appetizing to me, but it is, none-the-less, a curious culinary and cultural phenomena.
you know J, I almost put that as the link..but then I wasn't sure if it was american! This, however, is better because you have to make it yourself!! The article has a link to a video and it really is disgusting.

Those two things leave me torn.
The first one would keep me away from the US. The second makes me want to move there all the more.
